Nepal don’t reach Saturday’s ACC Premier Cup final without Dipendra Singh Airee, and the semi-final against Oman was the clearest possible proof of it: 51 off 76 balls with the bat, then 3/11 with the ball, plus two catches, in a man-of-the-match performance that decided the game twice over.

Why he matters beyond one tournament

Associate nations rarely have the depth to carry a specialist batter who doesn’t bowl and a specialist bowler who doesn’t bat in the same XI — the format punishes one-dimensional players far more than it does at Full Member level, where a deeper domestic system can absorb them.
